1982
The Cardiovascular Foundation of Colombia (FCV) goes back to the year 1982 when the Variety Children’s Life or Variety Club International Children's Helpline, inspired the creation of the "Corazón a Corazón" committee of New York led in Colombia by Dr. Franklin Roberto Quiros.

1986
In 1986, a group of specialists and personalities from Bucaramanga set out to create a private, non-profit entity dedicated to treating heart disease, by having a group of physicians initiate the activities of consultation and stress testing in the Fundación Tercera Edad de la Congregación Mariana, and the first cardiovascular surgeries at the Bucaramanga Clinic in 1987.

1992
In 1992, the FCV became part of the Carlos Ardila Lulle Clinic, acquiring the fourth floor, and thus expanding all diagnostic and interventional services of cardiology and peripheral vascular surgery, using surgery rooms, intensive care unit and hospitalization of this modern clinic.

1997
Subsequently, in October 1997, the new headquarters of the Heart Institute (IC) was inaugurated, a modern 14-story building with a capacity of 123 hospital beds distributed among three care units. In this same year it obtained the "National Award of Cardiology ", and the" Corporación Colombiano de Investigaciones Biomédicas (ICIB) " was created

1999
To ensure sustainability over time, the Institution's Strategic Plan was conceived, which contemplated the diversification of its health activities through self-sustainable Business Strategic Units that had to function under three guiding concepts: innovation, training and quality. As part of that strategy, in 1999 a continual improvement plan was designed, with the aim of achieving ISO 9001 certification.

2001
This achievement, which was obtained in January 2001 and covered all of its administrative and assistance areas, made the Cardiovascular Foundation the first hospital in Latin America to have access to a certification of that nature.

2006
In 2006, the Business Unit of Telemedicine and Bioengineering Businesses was created to contribute to the optimization and modernization of health services in Colombia, for which the Business Technology Center (CTE) was inaugurated with more than 5,500 square meters, space granted to the Strategic Business Units, in order to develop technology and knowledge. At the end of December of that same year, the operation of the Santa Marta Heart Institute clinic was started, receiving 28 beds, of which 4 were from Adult Intensive Care Units, where services of levels of complexity II, III and IV were attended in 24 clinical specialties

2007
In 2007, the Cardiovascular Foundation of Colombia received the visit of Re-certification ISO 9001 by the ICONTEC certifying body, and opened its new Nursing Room, the new Critical Care Unit and consolidated the UEN "FCV Telemedicine", as the greatest institution in this field at the national level.

2009
In 2009, the FCV - Instituto del Corazón, in accordance with its institutional vision of being a national and international reference institution in the provision of services for highly complex diseases, is the first institution to receive the accreditation of the international certification of the International Joint Commission in Colombia. In this same year, the consolidation of the International Services Office, created at the end of 2008, continues as a strategy to facilitate the management of international patients to the institution.

2011
In 2011, the Medicalized Transport Business Strategic Unit was launched, with the acquisition of a Westwind aircraft, a Learjet and a Robinson helicopter, with the aim of contributing to the internationalization of FCV services. During this year, the Biotechnology, Innovation and Technological Development office was also launched to strengthen innovation and research at the FCV.

2016
After developing successful medical processes in national and international patients, and analyzing the population's demand for health services, the FCV carried out its most ambitious project in terms of its magnitude and social impact for the country. The new specialized medical complex that was born within the hospital services ecosystem of the FCV, called Hospital Internacional de Colombia (HIC), was inaugurated in July 2016 with the aim of meeting the needs of society in terms of health and care capacity.

2018
The Cardiovascular Foundation of Colombia (FCV) is one of the most important medical complexes in Colombia and one of the most outstanding in Latin America. It is a level four in levels of complexity, and it is the first institution in the country accredited by the JCI - International Joint Commission, a seal that endorses high standards of certified quality. In addition, it is an important Technological Research and Development Center at the regional, national and international levels.
The FCV is prepared to take care of the lives of thousands of people and sow a new seed of hope that draws smiles throughout the world.
